Start with this: The ATM Withdrawal Surcharge Settlement. Its a whopping $197.5 MILLION. Who’s it against? Well if you guessed Visa and Mastercard (cough cough for our other big business settlement)… you’d be right! Here’s the deal:
Who’s Eligible?
🏧 If you paid an unreimbursed ATM fee (aka “surcharge”) in the U.S. from October 1, 2007, to July 26, 2024, you might qualify.
💸 You used an ATM card from a U.S. bank to withdraw cash at an ATM owned by a different bank (aka a “Foreign ATM Transaction”).
What Banks?
🏦 JP Morgan, Wells Fargo, Bank of America, and others tied to Visa/Mastercard ATM networks.
Translation: If your bank wasn’t the ATM’s bank and you paid a fee, you might be eligible.
What’s Next?
📅 Filing Deadline: January 22, 2025.
