Hey Classy People,

Ever feel like selling your home came with a side of sticker shock? You’re not alone. For years, home sellers across the U.S. were routinely charged 5-6% in commissions, often split between their agent and the buyer’s agent. But what if we told you that this wasn’t just “how it’s always been” – and that a major lawsuit just proved it? Let’s break down what happened and how you might be owed a piece of a massive settlement👇.

A WORD FROM OUR PARTNER

Is it your worldview? Or is it an algorithm?

Every day, algorithms decide what news you see—and what you don’t. Over time, this can trap you in an echo chamber, shielding you from perspectives you might disagree with. These filter bubbles don’t just shape opinions, they fracture our shared reality.

Enter Ground News.

Instead of pushing one narrative, Ground News shows how outlets from the left, center, and right cover the same story so you can see the full picture.

And instead of an engagement-maximizing algorithm skewing your worldview, their Blindspot Feed reveals stories that are being underreported by either the left or the right—so you can see both the story told and the story untold.

Join hundreds of thousands of readers from across the political spectrum who use Ground News to challenge their worldview and become more balanced, well-informed newsreaders.

This one goes out to those who navigated the hectic home selling process.

In a landmark antitrust case – Burnett v. National Association of Realtors – a federal jury found that major real estate players, including the National Association of Realtors (NAR), conspired to keep commission rates artificially high.

The result? Home sellers like you paid more than necessary when listing their properties. What started as a $208M payout has now snowballed into over $1 BILLION in settlement payouts.

🏠 Who's Eligible?

You may qualify for a payout if:
1) You sold a home in the U.S. between October 31, 2017, and July 23, 2024.
2) Your home was listed on a Multiple Listing Service (MLS).
3) You paid a commission to a real estate broker or agent.

Keep in Mind: Sellers must be able to prove that they owned and sold a property during that time and that they paid a real estate broker commission fee as part of the process.

💼 The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about individual refunds. The settlements, totaling over $1 Billion, have prompted significant changes in the real estate industry:

🪟 Commission Transparency: Sellers are no longer required to offer compensation to buyer’s agents when listing a home on an MLS.
🤝 Negotiable Fees: Buyers must now enter into agreements with their agents, making commission fees more transparent and negotiable.

📝 How to File a Claim

📆 Deadline: Submit your claim by May 9, 2025.
🌐 Where: Visit realestatecommissionlitigation.com to file online or download a mail-in form.
📁 What You Need: Details of your home sale and proof of the commission paid.
