SETTLEMENT SPOTLIGHT
💊 Walgreens Savings Club $100M Pill to Swallow
💰️ What Happened?
Plaintiffs say Walgreens ($WBA ( ▲ 0.26% ) ) inflated what it called its “usual and customary” (U&C) prices by not factoring in its Prescription Savings Club (PSC) – a discount program with lower rates for many generic drugs.
Why does that matter? Because insurance companies and customers paid based on those U&C prices. If the PSC price was lower, Walgreens still charged – and reported – the higher one. Over time, that meant you and your insurer could’ve paid more than you should have.
Walgreens, of course, denies any wrongdoing, but they’re still dishing out $100 million to settle the case.
